1-Aza-1,4,5,6-tetrahydroazulene 9a condensed with 3-pyrrolecarbinols under acidic conditions to give the 7-pyrrolylmethyl derivatives 21a-c; these novel dipyrroles are of value in the synthesis of geoporphyrins.
