Significance
An elegant system for the preparation of 3D supramolecular polymeric hydrogels is reported. By exploiting the strong but reversible cucurbit[8]uril-based 1:1:1 ternary binding motif in water (inset), the authors demonstrate that polymers, such as 1 and 2, can be non-covalently crosslinked by the addition of cucurbit[8]uril.
