Das Basalzellkarzinom ist nicht nur der häufigste nicht benigne kutane Tumor, sondern auch die weltweit am häufigsten vorkommende Neoplasie der weißen Bevölkerung und somit auch von großer interdisziplinärer Relevanz [46]. Obwohl bereits 1827 die Erstbeschreibung durch Jakob erfolgte, ist bis heute die Nomenklatur nicht einheitlich (Tab. [1]). Im deutschsprachigen Raum ist weitestgehend der von Nékám 1901 vorgeschlagene Begriff Basaliom durch den Terminus Basalzellkarzinom ersetzt worden [27]. Basalzellkarzinome zeichnen sich durch ein proliferatives lokal destruierendes Wachstum aus. Die Tendenz zur Metastasierung ist jedoch gering ausgeprägt, so dass Basalzellkarzinome als semimaligne fibroepitheliale Tumore mit Adnexcharakter bezeichnet werden [6].
