Significance
The authors of this paper describe a catalytic asymmetric aldol reaction between an α-isothiocyanato imide and various aldehydes catalyzed by nickel N,N′-dioxide complexes. The reaction exhibited high yield and stereoselectivity. The products were further converted into anti-β-hydroxy-α-amino acids in simple procedures.
