Leitsymptome
Singultus als Leitsymptom

Ein anhaltender Singultus kann zu einer erheblichen Beeinträchtigung der Lebensqualität führen und auch Symptom einer schwerwiegenden Erkrankung sein. Die häufigste Ursache für einen chronischen Singultus ist der gastroösophageale Reflux. Die Liste weiterer potenziell zugrunde liegender Erkrankungen ist lang, da die Afferenzen des Schluckaufreflexes diffus im Thorax verteilt sind. Eine diagnostische Aufarbeitung sollte daher interdisziplinär durch Neurologen, Internisten und HNO-Ärzte erfolgen.
