Ti(III) Chloride: A Novel Reagent for the Chemoselective Deprotection of Tetrahydropyranyl Ethers

Abstract
Ti(III) chloride was found to be an effective catalyst for the deprotection of tetrahydropyranyl ethers of alcohols and phenols at an ambient temperature. Allyl ether, benzyl ether, tert-butyldiphenylsilyl (TBDPS) ether, p-toluenesulfonate ester and isomerizable double bond were found to be compatible under the reaction conditions.
