Cadmium Chloride: An Efficient Catalyst for One-Pot Synthesis of 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones

Abstract

Biginelli reaction was carried out using cadmium chloride as a catalyst to obtain the dihydropyrimidones in excellent yields. This condensation was applicable to various aldehydes with ethyl acetoacetate and urea in acetonitrile at reflux temperature.
