Abstract

The highly alkyl-substituted dicatechol derivative 10-H4 is prepared with a triphenyl phosphite activated amide bond formation and a trifluoroacetic acid promoted dioxolane cleavage as the crucial steps in the reaction sequence. Compound 10-H4 forms an triple-stranded helicate-type titanium(IV) complex K4[(10)3Ti2] with a polar central dinuclear complex unit and a nonpolar periphery.
