Reactions of α-Thio Carbanions with Aryl Isothiocyanates Aryl isothiocyanates react with O-alkyl S-alkoxycarbonylmethyl thiocarbonates 1, S-cyanomethyl dimethyldithiocarbamate 4, and ethyl (thiobenzoylthio)acetates 7 in the presence of strong bases, followed by alkylation with methyl iodide or alkyl bromoacetates, to give substituted thieno[2,3-d]-1,3-thiazole derivatives 3, substituted 1-cyanovinyl dimethyldithiocarbamates 6, and substituted azetin-2-ones 10, respectively.
