Recently developed stereoselective synthetic routes to hydroazulenes are reviewed. Three principal synthetic approaches have been employed: 1. Rearrangements of bicyclic compounds containing cyclohexane rings; 2. Cleavage of tricyclic compounds; 3. Olefin cyclizations.
