Abstract

Copper(I) salts catalyse the intramolecular addition of N-chloramides to carbon-carbondouble bonds leading to lactams in almost quantitative yield.

The NCS used was dried by azeotropicremoval of H2O with toluene and then recrystallised fromtoluene.
