Significance

Although the area of gold-catalyzed reactions has progressed significantly, asymmetric versions of these transformations are still rather unknown. The main reason lies in the linear geometry of the gold cation which impedes the translation of the chiral information from the ligand to the substrate. In this report, the authors have developed a methodology for formation of an unusual six-membered ring with good yields and enantioselectivities.
