Significance

The authors report the highly efficient synthesis of a new protected borylated alkyne. The utilization of this species in the well studied metal-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloadditions provides a synthetic path to multifunctionalized oligoarenes which would be otherwise difficult to access.
