Zusammenfassung

Die vaskulären Malformationen der Orbita stellen besondere diagnostische und therapeutische Herausforderungen dar. Die hämodynamischen Charakteristika und die Lokalisation der Läsion spielen eine entscheidende Rolle für die Planung des therapeutischen Vorgehens. Eine ausführliche klinische und radiologische Untersuchung ist für die Patientenberatung unentbehrlich. Jede Entscheidung zur Intervention sollte auf individueller Basis und in Anbetracht des intra- und postoperativen Risikos getroffen werden. In vielen Fällen ist ein interdisziplinäres Management durch ein erfahrenes Team von Radiologen, interventionellen Radiologen, Mund-Kiefer-Gesichtschirurgen und Ophthalmologen für ein optimales Therapieergebnis erforderlich.

Abstract

Vascular malformations of the orbit present special diagnostic and therapeutic challenges for the ophthalmologist. The haemodynamic characteristics and localisation of these lesions play a key role for therapy planning. Thorough clinical and radiological examinations are indispensable for patient counselling. Any decision for surgical intervention should be made on an individual basis after careful consideration of the intra- and postoperative risks. An interdisciplinary approach by an experienced team of radiologists, interventional radiologists, maxillofacial surgeons and ophthalmologists is in many cases necessary in order to achieve an optimal therapeutic result.
