Significance
The development of alternative procedures in aqueous conditions is an important challenge in organic chemistry. The development of a new practical asymmetric oxidation of sulfides in water is reported. The oxidation is catalyzed by the Fe(salan) complex and proceeds with high enantioselectivity and yields.
