Radiology Cases from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow: Biloma as a Complication of Hepatic Transection Due to a Handlebar Injury

Abstract

Handlebar type injuries are well documented in the paediatric population. We describe a case complicated by a biloma, which was successfully treated with percutaneous drainage, guided radiologically. The imaging findings including CT, MRI and nuclear medicine techniques are presented.

Les traumatismes par guidon de vélo sont bien documentés dans la population pédiatrique. Nous décrivons un cas compliqué par un bilome qui a été traité avec succès par un drainage percutané sous contrôle radiologique. Le bilan radiologique incluait CT, IRM et scintigraphie.

Las lesiones producidas por manillar de bicicleta son bien conocidas en la población pediátrica. Describimos un caso complicado por biloma que fue tratado con éxito mediante drenaje percutáneo guiado radiológicamente. Los hallazgos de imagen incluyen TAC, MRN y técnicas de medicina nuclear.

Zusammenfassung

Lenkstangenverletzungen sind im Kindesalter sehr häufig. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Entwicklung eines Biloms beschrieben, das erfolgreich durch perkutane Drainage unter radiologischer Führung behandelt werden konnte. Die bildgebenden Verfahren einschließlich CT, MRI und nuklearmedizinischer Techniken werden vorgestellt.
