Abstract

The synthesis of three novel alkane disulfides with headgroups derived from vitamin B12, 14a, 14b and 15, is described. Self-assembled monolayers on gold are prepared from the symmetrical disulfide 15, bearing two cobyrinate head groups. The coating of the gold surface is analyzed by TOF-SIMS and ESCA measurements.
