The Sixth Examination for Registration with the European Board of Paediatric Surgery was held on March 26th and 27th, 2004, in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, Scotland.
The Examination host was Robert Carachi, supported by the Examination Administration Team of Rosemary Mackenzie and Sharon Hosie. Completing the examination team were Stephen Potts (Northern Ireland), Ole Nielsen (Denmark), Hugo Heij (The Netherlands), Dan Young (Scotland), Constantinos Hajivassiliou (Scotland), Alisdair Fyfe (Scotland) and Sebastiano Cacciaguerra (working as a visiting consultant in Scotland). Mr. Basith Amjad, from Mr. Carachi's surgical team, was instrumental in bringing together the clinical patients.
There were 7 (originally 8) candidates on this occasion - unfortunately one candidate withdrew two days before the exam due to a family emergency. The standards were once again extremely high, and congratulations to the six candidates who were successful.
Successful candidates were:
Name From Working in
Francisco Oliveros Hernandez Spain
Corina Zamfir Romania France
Laurent Fourcade France
Ilhami Surer Turkey
Ahmed Jamil Said Baghdad Lewisham
Muhammad Choudhry Pakistan England
It is hoped that the next Examination for Registration with the European Board of Paediatric Surgery will take place on the 5th and 6th November 2004, venue to be arranged. It has to be noted that this will be the last exam prior to moving to the new two part exam in 2005. The closing date for applications will be the 18th September 2004, but early application is advised as places are limited.
