Sir,
I read with interest the article of Bläker et al: Adenocarcinoma of the stomach with tumor-thrombotic microangiopathy in an 11-year-old male patient published in European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2000, 10, pp. 45 - 49.
We have seen a case of adenocarcinoma of the esophagus in a 14¿-year-old boy. At surgery, resection of the upper part of the stomach was performed ([2]).
Hassall ([1]) had collected nine cases of adenocarcinoma between 11 and 25 years of age. Adenocarcinoma does occur in patients under 25 years of age as a complication of Barett's esophagus arising in childhood.
