Abstract

The voice range profile measurement is one of the most important instrument-based diagnostic tools. It is been used not only in clinical voice diagnostics but also in voice pedagogics and expert opinion on vocal performance. Fundamental frequency and sound pressure values of both singing and speaking voice can be registered and documented in an xy diagram. During measurement, attention must be paid to the observance of standardized measurement conditions, such as a constant mouth-to-microphone-distance of 30 cm and an environmental noise level below 40 dB. The values of the measurements give information on quantitative and qualitative aspects of the voice at the time of measurement. Repeated measurements can be made to demonstrate therapeutic effects and vocal development.
