Churg–Strauss syndrome is a necrotizing systemic vasculitis characterized by extravascular
granulomas and eosinophilic infiltrates of small vessels. Although cardiac complications
are considered to be relatively common, no case of constrictive calcified pericarditis
has ever been previously described in this setting. In this report, we present the
case of a 46-year-old man with Churg–Strauss syndrome, in whom we were able to document
the development of symptomatic calcific constrictive pericarditis during a 10-year
period despite long-term corticosteroid therapy.
