Significance

The authors reported the synthesis of doubly or triply fused porphyrin-perylene monoimides with a donor-acceptor-type structure. The hybrids were prepared by the Suzuki cross-coupling followed by FeCl3-mediated intramolecular cyclodehydrogenation in one pot. Activation of both the peri and meta positions of the perylene monoimide was observed.
