Significance

Gold nanoparticles supported on TiO2 (Au/TiO2-VS, particles size: ca. 1.9 nm) catalyzed the deoxygenation of epoxides in the presence of CO and H2O to give the corresponding alkenes in 96-99% conversion with >99% selectivity (9 examples). In the deoxygenation of styrene epoxide, the catalyst was recovered by filtration and reused four times without significant loss of the catalytic activity (4th reuse: 99% conversion, >99% selectivity).
