Significance

A disilanyl bisanthracene (SiDPBA), which functions as a bipolar carrier transport material, is readily accessible via a one-pot procedure. A single isomer (trans) is produced in good yield and purification consists of simple washing with diethyl ether. While only one isomer is produced in the reaction, X-ray crystallography revealed two inequivalent molecules comprising the unit cell.
