Significance

JandaJel-supported Cu(salen) complex 3 catalyzed the asymmetric cyanosilylation of aromatic and heterocyclic ketones 1 with TMSCN in the presence of Ph₃PO to give the corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers 2 in 83-96% yield with 52-84% ee.
