Significance
The authors report the synthesis of (+)-korupensamine B (4) through an atropselective biaryl coupling. Compound 4 is a component of the natural product michellamine B, a potent anti-HIV-1 and -2 agent. The selectivity in the noteworthy cross-coupling step is proposed to arise from a π-stacking interaction.
