Significance
An atom-economical approach to β-chloro-α,β-unsaturated ketones is described. The iron(II) bromide catalyzed addition of acid chlorides to alkynes shows excellent regio- and stereoselectivity (Z/E > 99:1), but only a moderate tolerance towards functionalities has been reported.
