Significance
The reported method offers facile entry into a series of highly luminescent materials (solution and solid state) from readily accessible starting materials. The yields of most of the examples involving aromatic alkynes are higher than 80% and the use of oxygen as the oxidant eliminates the need for reagents and facilitated purification.
