Significance

<P>Fused-ring monoaza-acenes where synthesized in high yield through a nucleophile-­initiated cascade cyclization to generate fully aromatic products. The nucleophilic attack appears to be regioselective and all products were emissive.</P>

<P>All of the cyclized products form multipoint hydrogen-bonding interactions in the solid state.</P>
