Significance
Fused-ring monoaza-acenes where synthesized in high yield through a nucleophile-initiated cascade cyclization to generate fully aromatic products. The nucleophilic attack appears to be regioselective and all products were emissive.
Comment
All of the cyclized products form multipoint hydrogen-bonding interactions in the solid state.
