Significance

The cyclometalated iridium C,O-benzoate, derived from allyl acetate, 4-cyano-;3-nitrobenzoic acid, and modified (S)-SEGPHOS, was successfully applied to the asymmetric carbonyl (hydroxymethyl)allylation from the alcohol or aldehyde oxidation level. The desired products were obtained in good yields (up to 74%), anti-diastereoselectivities (up to14:1) and excellent ee values (93-99%).
