Significance
The authors report the use of 2-pyridin-2-yl-1H-benzimidazole as a new, efficient, and versatile bidentate ligand for copper-catalyzed formation of vinylic C-N and C-O bonds. Vinylic bromides or iodides can both be used and the reaction affords the corresponding vinylated phenols or N-heterocycles in excellent yields and under full retention of stereochemistry of the double bond.
