Significance

Ravuconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent with the longest half-life of all of the known azole antifungals. The synthesis depicted is noteworthy for the safe use of highly ­toxic, corrosive and combustible diethyl dithiophosphate (M) and the safe generation of LiCN in situ from acetone cyanohydrin (K).
