Non-surgical Management of Idiopathic Fibrosing Pancreatitis
Publikationsverlauf
Publikationsdatum:
22. April 2009 (online)

Introduction
Surgical exploration, including pancreatic biopsy and bilioenteric bypass, is still considered to be the gold standard treatment for children presenting with idiopathic fibrosing pancreatitis (IFP) [1] [2] [4]. However, several recent reports suggest that the symptoms of obstructive jaundice and mass secondary to juvenile IFP might resolve spontaneously in most cases [3] [6] [8]. We report two cases of IFP in which histological diagnosis was confirmed by CT guided biopsies, and where all symptoms of obstructive jaundice resolved spontaneously without the need for any invasive surgery.
