A Photochemical Cyclization of Glyoxalates via an Internally Directed C–H Insertion

Abstract
An unusual photochemical cyclization of glyoxylate esters has been described resulting in selective formation of an eight-membered lactone. Site-selective hydrogen abstraction leads to a novel C–H remote functionalization.
