Significance

Aminoglycosylation is an important strategy for synthesizing biologically active molecules and complex natural products. In this study, the authors developed an iron-catalyzed glycal 1,2-cis-aminoglycosylation for the synthesis of optically active Tn antigens.

Comment

A series of optically active Tn antigens is synthesized by iron-catalyzed glycal 1,2-cis-aminoglycosylation of galactosyl donors with amino acid acceptors. The reactions proceed smoothly to afford the desired products in good yields and with excellent optical purities.
