Plötzlicher Herztod
Sudden cardiac death
Abstract
In Germany, up to 200,000 people die of sudden cardiac death (SCD) every year. In addition to the treatment of reversible causes, acute treatment and the prevention of a recurrence of such an event are of the utmost importance. If no reversible cause can be identified during the diagnostic work-up, these patients are usually protected from recurrence with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). For some patients who have survived a PHT in the context of an accessory pathway or monotopic ventricular tachycardia, catheter ablation is highly recommended.
