Abstract
Methylene-bridged resorcin[4]arenes featuring electrochemically active and hydrophilic viologen units, chemically attached to their ‘rim’ regions, and a variety of pendent groups (‘feet’) have been synthesized. These compounds were designed to act as electrochemically active cavitands and especially as guests in mycobacterial channel proteins (channel blockers).
Key words
hydrophilic methylene-bridged resorcin[4]arenes - 4,4′-viologens - host/guest - supramolecular
