Abstract

The room temperature ionic liquid n-butylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate (BPyBF4) is used as a ‘green’ recyclable alternative to classical molecular solvents for the cyclocondensation of α-tosyloxyketones with 2-aminopyridine. Significant rate enhancements and improved yields have been observed.
