Definition
Der Begriff „Diabetische Nephropathie” beinhaltet alle renalen Läsionen, die bei Patienten mit Diabetes mellitus auftreten können, wie die (diffuse oder noduläre) Glomerulosklerose, chronisch interstitielle Nephritis, Papillennekrosen sowie verschiedene tubuläre Läsionen. Die „diffuse diabetische Glomerulosklerose” ist die häufigste Läsion und findet sich bei den meisten Diabetikern mit Nephropathie, unabhängig von der klinischen Manifestationen einer renalen Beteiligung. Die „noduläre Glomerulosklerose (Typ Kimmelstiel-Wilson)” ist spezifisch für einen Diabetes mellitus.
