The prop-2-ynylation and penta-2,4-diynylation of soft nucleophiles catalyzed by Sc(OTf)3 from prop-2-ynal diethyl acetals 1 a-e, and penta-2,4-diynal diethyl acetals 1 g-i gave the alkylated and arylated products 2 a-i, 3 g, 4 g, h, 6 a-c in good to high yields.
