Imido(halo)metal complexes [Cr(N-t-Bu)X3(dme)] (X = Cl, Br; dme = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) or [V(Ntol)Cl3] (tol = p-tolyl) react stoichiometrically and catalytically with epoxy benzyl ethers to give halohydrins in high regioselectivity.
