Rhodium(I)- or iridium(I)-complexes-mediated equilibrated reactions of both 2,3-cis and 2,3-trans-N-arylsulfonyl-3-alkyl-2-vinylaziridines afforded 2,3-cis- and trans-stereoisomeric mixtures in favor of 2,3-cis-isomers. Addition of a trialkyl phosphite such as trimethyl phosphite is critical to the equilibrated reactions. Important factors for the reactions are discussed.
