UV irradiation of 2-bromocyclohexenyl alkyl selenides leads to rearrangement via a 1,3-hydrogen shift, and exclusive formation of the 6-bromo derivative, as evidenced in particular by multinuclear NMR spectroscopic data; analogous cyclooctenyl compounds do not undergo this process.
