Diethylorganoboranes obtained by the hydroboration of alkenes with Et2BH are cleanly oxidized with oxygen in bromoperfluorooctane in good yields. Remarkably, the oxidation of secondary alkylboranes proceeds under these conditions with retention of configuration.
