Treatment of silyl phosphine oxides with cesium fluoride and benzaldehyde generates β-hydroxy phosphine oxides with good anti selectivity. Reaction of an optically active silyl phosphine oxide shows that C-Si to C-C bond transfer is not stereospecific.
