The synthesis of trimethylene dithioacetals of D-lyxose, D-talose and D-galactose and their isoproylidenation is described. According to the reaction system and conditions used, several mono- and diisopropylidene derivatives are obtained in moderate to good yields. The structures are assigned by 1H and 13CNMR spectroscopy.
