Epoxidation of trisubstituted olefins using Mn-salen complex (1) as a catalyst proceeds with high enantioselectivity and the sense of asymmetric induction observed in this reaction could be rationalized mainly by electronic repulsion between salen-benzene ring and unsaturated olefinic substituents.
