A facile conversion of 5H-thiazolo[2,3-b]quinazoline-5-one (1a), 2H,6H-3,4-dihydro[1,3]thiazino[2,3-b]quinazolin-6-one (1b), as well as analogous fused thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidinones 2a, b into heterocyclic substituted alkyl disulfides 3a-d, 4a-d is reported. The conversion was performed by ring cleavage with sodium methoxide or sodium ethoxide followed by intermolecular oxidative trapping.
ring cleavage - oxidative trapping - functionalized alkyl disulfides - quinazolinones - thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidinones
