(1-Chlorophosphirenes) 2 and 4 have been synthesized by displacement from their W(CO)5 complexes with 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane. These precursor complexes are conveniently prepared by reaction of an alkyne with a (1-aminophosphirane)pentacarbonyltungsten (8), followed by cleavage of the P-N bond with hydrogen chloride. 1-Chlorophosphirene and its 2-phenyl derivative cannot be isolated in this manner, since they rapidly react further under the given conditions.
