2-(Diphenylmethylsilyl)ethyl phenyl sulfones 4b and 4c have been shown to be highly practical reagents for vinylation and isopropenylation of aldehydes, ketones and epoxides to afford the silyl ethers of the corresponding allylic or homoallylic alcohols in good yield in a one-pot procedure.
